The installation of the H3o collective focuses on the invisible part of the territory: the underwater world. It stages its particular fauna to make it visible to Festival visitors. Inspired by an object specific to the world of hunting, the decoy sock, the collective creates large covers in stretch fabric printed from images of underwater fauna.
To create these printed covers, there is no question of an aquatic safari in the waters of the Hortillonnages, in search of the fleeting vision of a carp in its natural environment, but rather of an iconographic harvest in the dry, most abundant source: fishermen’s photo albums.
Located on two islets accessible by boat, their fabric creatures unfold in situ, adapting to the Hortillonnages, swallowing its elements to take shape. In this way, eels, pike, perch and wels catfish populate the place, sometimes camouflaged, sometimes exuberant, revealing to walkers what lies dormant under their boats.

The artist

Collectif H3o

H3O is a collective which, thanks to original and sometimes incongruous capture devices, probes the aquatic bottoms of the French fishing environment. Founded following a miraculous fishing trip, it brings together Baptiste Carluy, painter-fisherman, David Perreard videographer-magician and Iommy Sanchez sculptor-props designer. Through the production of films, sculptures and installations, the collective seeks to make the underwater worlds it explores visible in an original way.
