La faille > Élise & Martin Hennebicque, 2018

The public is lured to the garden by a striking feature. The garden reveals itself as the continuation of the marshes that penetrate the park by a form attributed to the morphology of a moving landscape: the fault. A vegetation fault with numerous tributaries. The garden suggests an image of water flowing down towards the valley. Thus, the penetrant sees various plant associations intertwined according to their topographic position: wetland plants along the river edge gradually changing to plants from drier environments. On the approach to the garden, the visitor is drawn from the main pathway by this footprint of vegetation. The fault follows the path by the marking on the ground where the lawn is transformed by the vegetation which has retaken its place in the interstices. It attracts passers-by and draws them to the nearby viewpoint over open water and reedbeds. With its characteristics linked to the identity of the landscapes, the topography and the characteristic vegetation, the site will serve as an experimental site at the “Maison du Parc” for the learning workshops related to the local flora. Like a test site at the heart of the park, it will raise public awareness of differentiated management.
