Work in progress > Solène Ortoli, 2020

The scenographer Solène Ortoli works on the site of the ancient cité Quenehem to connect the two citizen gardens designed by the collective Green Resistance and the agency Wagon Landscaping. She offers a path that deflects visitors from the paved road to take them on a narrative and nostalgic wlak. Each panel that punctuates the route bears witness, the memory of the inhabitants of Calonne-Ricouart and the former residents of the Quenehem city. The reminiscence of a place, a smell, a noise, interferes in the visitor’s journey to draw a new landscape. The metallic structures evoke the ancient architecture and complete the story of the ancient city. Benches arranged along the way invite to pause and to read for a contemplative walk.

The artist

Solène Ortoli

Trained in scenography at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, visual artist Solène Ortoli likes to transform the area in the manner of a theatre scene, bringing the visitor to a garden or an exhibition to read the space in a different way. In 2015, she participated in the International Garden Festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire and received the creativity prize for the exhibit "Réflexion d'un collectionneur".
